范靖云博士本科毕业于中国科学技术大学近代物理系（合肥，1992），博士毕业于美国马里兰大学物理系（College Park，2002），2002-2004新泽西NEC美国实验室博士后，2004-2015美国国家标准局、马里兰大学帕克分校联合量子研究所物理学家， 2015-2019中国科学技术大学上海研究院访问教授，2019年3月起任职于南方科技大学，现在是物理系教授和量子科学与工程研究院研究员。他目前主要研究方向是量子光学。
